The Days of our Lives recap for Thursday, October 21, 2021, features Julie Williams demanding that Marlena Evans Black let her see Doug Williams while John Black searches his wife’s office for answers. Meanwhile, Abe Carver makes Paulina Price nervous by suggesting Marlena marry them while Jake DiMera takes matters into his own hands with disastrous consequences.
Abe (James Reynolds) wants to make Paulina happy with their wedding, but she worries about her secret when Abe suggests Marlena (Deidre Hall) officiate their wedding.
They ask Marlena, but the doc can’t officiate the wedding without knowing how Lani feels about Paulina marrying Abe. Later, Marlena insists she tells both Abe and Lani Price Grant (Sal Stowers) the truth, suggesting Paulina will lose her soul if she doesn’t.
At their place, with more than a bit of foreshadowing, Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) declares his love for key lime pie and suggests he’ll sell his soul to the Devil for another slice of pie. Little does he know.
Later, they discuss Abe and Paulina’s post-marriage sex life…okay then. Wasn’t it weird, though, when Paulina asked Lani to call her “momma?” Hmm…why would she ask that? Lani and Eli decide to move past it.
Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) barges in and demands to see Doug (Bill Hayes) at Bayview. Doug is dangerous, though, and Marlena suggests seeing Julie will set him off. Julie’s not convinced, but Marlena is unmoved.
Marlena is a psychiatrist and knows what’s best for her patients. Julie wonders who made Marlena God (or was it the Devil?). Playing God is the last thing on Marlena’s mind, though. Julie’s mad as Hell, but she doesn’t know how close she is. Finally, Julie realizes that Marlena won’t let her see Doug until Hell freezes over.
Later, Julie convinces Eli to help her see Doug, and he promises his badge will do the trick. However, they find themselves stymied at Bayview.
Elsewhere, John (Drake Hogestyn) asks Abe if he notices Marlena is acting strange, and Marlena’s possession comes up, making them wonder since she wears dark sunglasses again. Could she be possessed again? Oh, surely not…but something’s not quite right with Marlena ever since she had a session with Doug. John asks the Lord for forgiveness in Marlena’s office and listens to Marlena’s session with Doug.
Elsewhere Jake (Brandon Barash) has a gun and contemplates using it to convince Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) not to take Gabi Hernandez DiMera’s (Camila Banus) company. Gabi walks in on him, but he distracts her with some extracurricular activities.
Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) thinks babymaking with Ciara (Victoria Konefal) is awesome. Duh. It was a spiritual experience for both, though, despite the ground failing to open up. These two love each other, and Ben already loves the baby. But, unknown to the potential parents-to-be, their unconceived baby is central to MarDevil’s plans.
Later, Ben and Ciara run into Jake and Gabi. The women go inside to order breakfast since all the babymaking and practice made them hungry. Outside, Ben notices Jake’s gun and wonders what it’s for. Ben tries to talk Jake out of going to find Carmine (Richard Stevens).
Jake confronts Carmine trying to convince him it’s in both their interests for Carmine to keep quiet, and then Jake’s gun comes out. They grapple with the gun, and Carmine disarms Jake. However, Abe interrupts and ends up taking a bullet meant for Jake.
