Back in 1981, the character of Abe Carver hit the Salem scene, and Days of our Lives has never been the same. Fans took to James Reynolds for many reasons, and their adoration has only grown over the decades. Now his character’s in a hot romance with Jackée Harry’s Paulina Price, putting him on the front burner where he belongs!

James Reynolds Makes Us Root For Abe Carver

He’s had a few love interests over the years that have excited viewers and made them hope Abe had finally found his forever love but as of yet, that hasn’t been the case. But it’s not just the females who have helped Reynolds shine as the lovable cop and eventual mayor. The actor has had several friendly relationships as Abe has proven to be a standup partner and pal.

When he was paired with Roman Brady (then Wayne Northrop) at the Salem Police Department, their camaraderie was palpable as they solved many crimes. In later years, he was a mentor to many others who joined the department, including Roman’s younger brother Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), Bo’s wife, Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso), as well as their son, Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer). He was the police commissioner and eventually even ran for mayor.

He’s also gotten the chance to show his warm side as a father, though the only one we saw him raise has been Theo Carver. He’s doled out incredible advice, shared his loving and caring side, and we saw a patient side of him as he had to deal with blow after blow that life handed him.

That included things like finding out Theo’s autistic, losing his wife, Lexie (Renée Jones), learning about children he didn’t know about including Lani Price Grant (Sal Stowers) — though now it turns out that isn’t true. How will Abe handle that devastating blow when the news eventually comes out? It’s a safe bet that James Reynolds will make fans root for Abe no matter what!
