Redford and Newman; Pryor and Wilder; Freeman and Muldoon? Seems like that could be the next great movie pairing as former Days of our Lives star Patrick Muldoon (Austin) is currently filming his second film with legendary actor Morgan Freeman, and he posted about the experience on his Instagram page.
“Excited/Blessed to work with legend Mr. Morgan Freeman again,” Muldoon wrote.
The film, The Longest Night, also stars Ruby Rose and Nick Vallelonga, and follows a retired police commissioner who blackmails his caretaker into helping him double-cross his dirty partners to clean up the city. Directed by George Gallo, Muldoon plays Agent Monroe in the film.
The actor also posted a photo of himself wearing sunglasses, a mask, and a protective face shield on top of it all, showing he is staying safe, but joked he “feels like an android up in the plane back to Mississippi.”
Muldoon and Morgan also star together in the Robert De Niro-led The Comeback Trail, which also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Zach Braff, and Emile Hirsch. Gallo directed this film as well, and it’s scheduled to be released sometime in November.
The crime comedy follows a group of conmen trying to murder an actor during the filming of a fake movie. Muldoon, who plays Frank Pierce in the film, also served as an executive producer on the project.
It’s been something of a busy year for Muldoon, who also has a few other films either in pre- or post-production according to his IMDB page. He starred alongside Liam Hemsworth and John Malkovich in the film, Arkansas, which was released in May; he’ll star in Magic in Mount Holly, which also features former All My Children star, Jennifer Bassey (Marian); and he’s attached to the movie, Kids Can—a film described as “for kids, by kids.”
This probably makes Muldoon’s availability to return to Salem somewhat out of the questions, but if Austin did decide to return, he could make things interesting for Sami. And maybe he could bring Freeman along as Abe’s long-lost brother. After all, before hitting it big in Hollywood, the golden-voiced actor appeared on Texas, Ryan’s Hope, and Another World!
