The soap world was rocked this week when news broke that Greg Vaughan was leaving Days of Our Lives and the role of Eric Brady just a week after his character and Nicole finally married after two decades.
Vaughan made his announcement on former General Hospital stars Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson’s podcast and many fans didn’t see it coming.
Now, the actor is finally speaking out about this decision on his Instagram page with a special message to fans.
“It’s with love, laughter & tears of joy I leave you. I believe all things in our life’s path are meant to cross! When I joined the show, I made a list of what I hoped to achieve or give on this journey: my commitment, cherish the friendships & leave an impact!
“As DOOL continues, as a fan I know it will carry on & rise above it all! My unsung hero, Casting Director – Marnie for her love & passion, craft & commitment you give every day to the show! I thank you Mr. Corday for your continuous love, dedication & allowing me to be apart of your DOOL’s family legacy! A remarkable Cast & Crew that wholeheartedly makes this family soooo beautiful and why I LOVE YOU!!!
“The best for last, the generations of FANS around the WORLD!!! You make all that we do so rewarding, allowing my dreams to have a greater purpose!!! I THANK YOU & I LOVE YOU.”
Vaughan’s exit comes on the heels of the news that Kristian Alfonso is leaving the world of Hope behind. And this week we also learned that Victoria Konefal is leaving the role of Ciara after she just wed Ben (Robert Scott Wilson). The door seems to be open for each of these performers to return, so time shall tell. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
