As the daughter of Days of our Lives supercouple Steve “Patch” Johnson and Kayla Brady Johnson, Stephanie Johnson has the compunction to do good — but you know what they say about good intentions.
Stephanie was welcomed into the world on February 19, 1990, a banner day for Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), who’d been languishing in prison, charged with a crime that she did not commit. In his struggle to cope with a new babe, Steve entrusted her to one Sheila Salsbury (Kim Morgan Greene), a psychotic detractor of Kayla’s who wound up absconding with Stephanie in tow. It took the combined efforts of Steve and Kayla — who’d made a break for it when apprised of the terrible news — for wee Steph to be rescued all the way in Australia.
Fun Fact(s): Stephanie’s existence is down to Mary Beth Evans’s real-life pregnancy. The actress’s ultrasound even doubled as Kayla’s.
Evans’s wee one was briefly seen onscreen as Stephanie before Amanda and Jessica Gunnarson assumed the part. Shayna Rose was briefly in as the first mature Stephanie (2006-2007), before being replaced by Shelley Hennig (2007-2011, 2017). Abigail Klein debuted as the character in the 2022 special Beyond Salem: Chapter 2 before joining DAYS proper on August 17 of the same year.
Occupation(al Hazards)
As a professional racecar driver, Stephanie gave the likes of Danica Patrick a run for their money, but an accident on the track ended her career. Stephanie’s subsequent stints as an airline attendant and intern at Titan ended on sour notes: the former venture was a front for a smuggling operation, while the latter resulted in her being used as a human pawn in a game of one-upmanship between the Kiriakis and DiMera clans.
Love To Love You Baby
* Jeremy Horton (Trevor Donovan): Though his attitude left much to be desired, Jeremy was the object of Stephanie’s affections. The revelation that he was a shady operator put paid to the romance.
* Max Brady: Stephanie and Max’s sizzle ultimately fizzled in the aftermath of her injury on the racetrack — and though they briefly reunited, resentment, jealousy, insecurity, and Stephanie’s less than favorable assessment of Max’s surprise sibling Melanie Jonas (Molly Burnett) all contributed to a final parting of the ways.
* Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier): The deck was firmly stacked against this pairing, and the terror that was heaped upon Stephanie by enemies of Philip’s family ultimately tore them asunder.
* Nathan Horton (Mark Hapka): Stephanie convinced herself that Nathan was the one, but he couldn’t reckon with Stephanie’s tampering with a paternity test.
2007: Roofied and raped by Ford Decker (Matthew Florida). An attempt to teach the villain a valuable lesson resulted in his accidental death and a bungled coverup orchestrated by Stephanie and her fellow Alpha Chi Thetas.
2009: Chloroformed and kidnapped by Owen Kent (Wes Ramsey) on the orders of Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo). In want of a place to store his prey, Owen locked Stephanie in a drawer in his father’s home morgue.
2022: Stephanie took the brunt of a bomb’s destructive force, and though she did live to tell the tale, it was touch and go for a bit.
