Three Cheers For DAYS Duo: Rafe and Jada on the Job

To say that the Salem Police Force is incompetent on Days of our Lives would be putting it nicely. When was the last time they caught a criminal? The right criminal? For the right crime? It’s been a while. One could almost lose faith in the SPD. Which was why it was so nice to be reminded of what Rafe and Jada do well. They are good cops. In, at least, one particular way.

Point and Shoot

In the midst of the drug epidemic which has already put Holly (Ashley Puzemis) in a coma, sent Tate (Jamie Martin Mann) to rehab for a problem he doesn’t have, and allegedly affected many, many other citizens we don’t know or care about, the Salem PD intercepted a major narcotic shipment meant for Clyde’s (James Read) lieutenants. In the course of it, however, Officer Goldman (Christy St. John) was forced to draw her weapon, shoot it for the first time, and kill a suspect for the first time. Or risk getting killed herself.

Talk To Me

Goldman was devastated. And that’s when Rafe (Galen Gering) and Jada (Elia Cantu) got their chance to shine. They proved to be everything you would want your supervisor and boss to be, under the circumstances. They were sympathetic, they were empathetic, they were supportive and, most importantly, they were calm. They made Goldman feel better, and their scenes together were some of the most compelling of the week.

I’ve Looked At Life From Both Sides Now

So often, all we see of Rafe and Jada is them being bumbling cops, or a lovey-dovey couple…who have so far managed to avoid running into Jada’s ex, Everett (Blake Berris), living in the same town. It was a treat to see them on the job, being good at their jobs, and being good people, to boot. Goldman will likely never forget their kindness. And neither will we.
