In addition, Tate and Holly’s romantic evening out took a turn for the worse, Xander and Sarah adverted a potential crisis, Leo successfully resurrected his column, Brady’s good deed did not go unpunished, and Salem rings in 2024. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
Getting The Party Started
Stefan (Brandon Barash) found Ava (Tamara Braun) loitering in the alleyway behind their restaurant and listened as she explained she needed a minute to collect herself before the big New Year’s Eve bash. Tensions mounted between the two when, first, news reached them that two kids had overdosed on what was most assuredly the product they push, and then when Ava disabused Stefan of the notion that they weren’t actual drug dealers.
Oh, and then there was the little matter of Ava telling Harris (Steve Burton) that she and Stefan were a bona fide couple. Stefan could but agree that it was better Harris think that than suspect what’s really going on. Good cover story, Ava. Good cover story!

The two then turned their attentions to opening up the venue and welcoming the likes of Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) — the latter of whom was still seriously worried about her mama — and Everett (Blake Berris) and Stephanie (Abigail Klein).
Theresa (Emily O’Brien), Alex (Robert Scott Wilson), and barely willing third-wheel Brady (Eric Martsolf) also put in an appearance, as did Holly (Ashley Puzemis) and a clearly besotted Tate (Jamie Martin Mann).

Parenting 101
Meanwhile, Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) swung by Xander’s (Paul Telfer) apartment (she can’t seem to stay away) to give Victoria Margaret a New Year’s Eve kiss and was concerned to feel how warm the baby’s head was. Equally concerning was the lack of baby acetaminophen on the premises.
Xander ran off to procure some — which he apparently found at a local liquor store (who knew they had a children’s section?) — and in no time flat Victoria Margaret was cooing and her temperature lowering.
Scenes From A Party
Back at the Bistro, a cloaked Leo (Greg Rikaart) dazzled the audience with his dance moves and then approached Everett and Stephanie. Having already crossed paths with Chad (Billy Flynn) and gotten his okay (not to mention the scoop that he and Steph were no longer an item), Mr. Stark pitched a triumphant return to The Spectator. Despite himself, not to mention the paper’s new emphases, Everett agreed.
In another corner of the room, Alex took Brady aside and asked him to boost Theresa’s confidence in her handling of Bella. However, Brady’s attempts to do just that earned him Theresa’s scorn. How DARE he condescend to her! She is hitting it out of the park and knocking them dead! She needs no bolstering, nor does she need any help.
Elsewhere, Holly pulled out a baggie of pills and suggested she and Tate partake. He wasn’t the least bit interested. Not as the son of two recovering addicts. Holly scoffed, insisted that it was only ADHD medication she scored from a friend in school, and huffed off to the ladies’ room.
Fireworks — Literal and Figuratively
With colors exploding up above them, Chanel and Johnny, Sarah and Xander, and Stephanie and Everett all leaned in for romantic smooches. Unbeknownst to the latter pair, their kiss was spied by a rattled Chad. Opposite, Tate’s efforts to locate Holly culminated in him finding her in a heap in the alley, unresponsive and frothing at the mouth.
