Soap Hub Performer of the Week For DAYS: Linsey Godfrey

The last time DAYS standout Linsey Godfrey was named Soap Hub’s Performer of the Week, it was for her portrayal of two villainesses impersonating Sarah Horton with the aid of a mask. Now she receives that same honor for her work as a Sarah Horton who’s under the impression that she’s a long dead southern spitfire named Renée DuMonde.

Godfrey’s alter-ego wasn’t at all pleased that Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller) had taken up residence in her bedroom – as if Abigail had a choice (!) – nor could she understand why this stranger, and every other stranger she came into contact with insisted on calling her Sarah. “My name is Renée! Renée DuMonde! …What, are you all crazy or something?”

Abigail’s attempt to explain to Sarah that she was operating under a delusion was met with much resistance. But when “Renée” learned that the woman before her spouting all the nonsense was a DiMera by marriage, and therefore a relation, Godfrey switched from irritated doubting Thomasina to a giggly girlfriend up for all the hot goss about her newfound baby brother…and Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis), the love of her life.

Speaking of Tony, he was soon on the scene and in the thick of it. Godfrey threw herself, literally and repeatedly, at the big hunk of man, despite his reticence, and her Renée just couldn’t fathom why. Did it have something to do with his so-called wife? That horrible, horrible Anna Fredricks?

The reason didn’t really matter, “Renée” decided. It could wait till they were safely ensconced back in Salem. But first, she, Tony and Abigail and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) just had to feast on the scrumptious Island Chicken ala Renée that Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) had prepared. “It is the best chicken you have in your life,” Godfrey as “Renée” pointedly and hilariously spit out at an unconvinced Abigail.

Oh, and don’t worry about the meal being dosed. “Renée” substituted Kristen’s drug for goats milk. No one, but no one was any danger – unless they were lactose intolerant!

Honorable Mention: Thaao Penghlis

In no time flat, Penghlis took Tony from confused and bewildered over Sarah’s informal greetings and declaration of devotion to completely cognizant of the ridiculous goings on. His epic, deadpan delivery of, “Oh dear God. Please help me,” was more than enough to earn Penghlis this special kudos, but his dinner scene opposite Godfrey – which featured her violently reminding him of proper dinner decorum – was also a highlight.
