How Days of our Lives Killed Any Chance of Us Falling For Leo In Love

On Days of our Lives, Leo Stark and Craig Wesley wedding for love failed spectacularly when not only did his other husband, Jackie Cox, show up to announce that he and Leo were already married, but Jackie also dropped the bombshell that Leo’s entire relationship with Craig Wesley had been a setup.

Leo (Greg Rikaart) and Jackie targeted Craig (Kevin Spirtas) as an easy — and rich — mark, and it was only when Leo told Jackie that he’d signed a prenup, meaning no money for either of them, that Jackie decided to help Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) blow Leo out of the water.

Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) urged her dad to dump the bum, but Leo gave an impassioned speech about how yeah, sure, it may have started out as a con, but he really fell in love with Craig. For realz.

Then, Craig wanted to know when did Leo fall in love with him? Uhm…when Craig defended him to Chloe, that’s when! Craig’s true and sincere love for him melted Leo’s Grinchy heart. Craig didn’t buy it.

Days of our Lives: Show Don’t Tell

And it was hard for us to buy it, too. This story has been so ridiculously rushed. Nancy Wesley (Patrika Darbo) only found out her husband was cheating on her a few weeks ago. Craig then announced that he’d been lying for decades — the relationship we’d all actually seen between him and Nancy was all a lie — and he was now madly in love with Leo.

We didn’t see any of this love develop. We were just supposed to take Craig’s word for it. And now we’re supposed to take Leo’s word that he was truly in love with Craig. Because we didn’t see any of that develop, either.

How are we supposed to know if he’s telling the truth or not, if we didn’t see original schemer Leo and then his genuine change of heart? This entire story has been told at such a fast pace, we don’t know whom to believe. And unfortunately, we have no idea why we should care either.
