When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I’m going to voice it anyway — or, at the very least, commit it to this column: the best thing that happened during this week’s Days of our Lives was the Cass Winthrop/Another World reference.
Running a close second was the appearance of Aunt Sister Mary Moria (Stacy Haiduk). Whether or not it’s the genuine article or Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) playing dress up, dealing with ‘ASMM’ is exactly the penance that EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) deserves.
* Now’s the time for an alternatively hilarious and heartbreaking intervention featuring Eric Brady’s (Greg Vaughan) friends and family including the likes of fellow addicts Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) and Brady Black (Eric Martsolf).
* What was the point of Stefan O. DiMera’s (Brandon Barash) scenes on Friday’s airshow? If it was to make the character thoroughly unlikeable, to make me actively root for Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) to remain mum about his brainwashing, then mission accomplished.
Seriously, I have not seen such a pompous, swivel-necked ass since Feuerriegel made his DAYS debut.
Speaking of failing to care for a particular Salemite and their plight, I’m not feeling much for Abe Carver (James Reynolds), and Paulina Price Carver’s (Jackée Harry) decision to thwart her own political ambitions and it is frustrating as hell.
After all, Abe publicly announced his intention to resign as mayor in order to join Paulina in the capital. Who cares if Cass forces him to resign in the wake of Paulina’s scandal? The better story, the potentially slapstick story amongst all the onscreen angst is Paulina continuing to govern while in lockup. Whether you know it or not, in theory, felons can hold public office. All the pieces were there, if only DAYS had picked them up.
