A Critic’s Review Of Days of our Lives: A Desperate Need For New Couplings

When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.

Days of our Lives: The Critic

I’m about to confess something that’s probably akin to blasphemy. I’m far more thrilled by Paul (Christopher Sean) and Andrew’s (Colton Little) reunion — and the prospect that they just might become Days of our Lives regulars — than I am about Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Bo’s (Peter Reckell) inevitable reunion.

For one, I’ve long longed for a soap to breed a same-sex supercouple in the ’80s mold — no, Will (Chandler Massey or Guy Wilson) and Sonny (whether played by Freddie Smith or Zach Tinker) never, ever came close to qualifying — and these two fit the bill nicely.

I mean, how can you go wrong pairing Shane and Kimberly’s baby boy and John Black’s offspring? I don’t know about you all, but I can clearly see a world where Paul and Andrew are sleuthing up a storm and steaming up the screen, and that’s a world that I want to live in.

Secondly, Days of our Lives is in DESPERATE need of a new generation of couples — super or not so. Bo and Hope, Steve and Kayla, and John and Marlena can’t keep carrying this show on their backs, and the likes of Johnny and Wendy and Gabi and Stefan just aren’t cutting it for me.

As for EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker)…I could get behind them.

Further DAYS Musings

* Belle (Martha Madison) and Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) turned out to be the dream team that I didn’t know that I needed in my life. More, please!

* It’s that time again, that time when I question DAYS’ issue where expressed consent is concerned. It pained me, literally pained me to watch a soused Gwen (Emily O’Brien) flat out admit to not being okay before throwing herself at an equally soused Alex (Robert Scott Wilson). It was just plain disgusting, and a complete riff on a similar scene enacted by Alex and Allie (Lindsay Arnold) a few months back.

* So…given that Rolf (Richard Wharton) is in Megan’s (Miranda Wilson) employ and has seemingly been toiling for her for quite some time, can we assume that the villainess’s headquarters are located in Jakarta?

Tee hee, look at me trying to make sense out of a most senseless storyline! What am I like?!
