Alison Sweeney Recalls Special Effects Fun At Days of our Lives

While Samantha Brady has been known for causing quite a bit of trouble for her fellow Salemites on Days of our Lives, her portrayer, Alison Sweeney, took to her Instagram Wednesday to remind fans that Sami hasn’t always had it easy.

In honor of “Way Back Wednesday,” the actress posted a photo on her Instagram page showing what Sami looked like when her character was pushed through a window by Andre DiMera (disguised as Tony) at the DiMera mansion.

“Sorry for the graphic (seeming) post,” Sweeney wrote next to the photo, which showed some bloody makeup on Sami’s face and neck from the storyline that occurred in the mid-’90s. “You [DAYS] fans can tell me the right year. I may not remember the date, but I’ll never forget the storyline – Sami getting pushed through a window… or the ensuing summer in which I had no dialogue.”

The thought of Sami Brady not being able to speak would be music to a lot of Salem residents’ ears right now, and Sweeney recalls how it wasn’t easy not speaking, calling the story “way harder than I thought it would be. LOL.”

No one knew what happened to Sami at first, other than that she fell, but the storyline was a big catalyst in Sami and Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) getting together as he helped nurse her back to health when she couldn’t speak.

“[This was] definitely more work for [Bryan Dattilo] who had to carry all our scenes!!!” Sweeney said, remembering the duo’s time together. Lucky for her (and for fans), her co-hort has been put back on contract at the show.

Also in the photo is DAYS makeup artist Deidre Decker, who Sweeney noted “did a fantastic job with the special effects make up!!”
