A Critic’s Review of Days of our Lives: Recasting History And Sex Appeal

Days of our Lives A Critic's Weekly Review
 Comments

When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.

Days of our Lives: A Critic’s Week In Review

Having already played armchair matchmaker, we’ve decided to have a go as a casting director. So, if we had our druthers, who would play who in The Devil Came to Salem?

To kick things off, we’ll acquiesce to Johnny DiMera’s (Carson Boatman) suggestion that Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller) and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) play Dr. Marlena Evans Black (Deidre Hall) and Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) respectively…but that still leaves quite a few “roles” without an actor.

Our first hire: Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) as Father John Black (Drake Hogestyn). A previous Days of our Lives Halloween Spooktacular proved that the man looks fine in priest attire, and ole Xander could really use the salary.

Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes), providing she survives MarDevil’s attack, would be the perfect Caroline Brady stand-in, and wee Rachel Black could sub as wee Belle Brady Black (Martha Madison).

Intern Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) could play Dr. Mike Brady, while Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) could slip into Kristen DiMera (Eileen Davidson) and Andre DiMera’s (Thaao Penghlis) shoes.

Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara Brady Weston (Victoria Konefal) would make excellent Bo Brady and Billie Reed facsimiles, and maybe Johnny could finally get persnickety EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) on board with an offer to play his pops – and lest anyone forget, Stefano DiMera (the late Joseph Mascolo), is very much responsible for Lucifer’s initial appearance on Days of our Lives.

Now, if we could just find a part for Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo), Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) and Grace Brady to inhabit, then Johnny’s efforts will truly be an (extended) family – and friends – affair.

Further DAYS Musings

* If the definition of insanity is indeed doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result then Nicole Walker Brady (Arianne Zucker) is a walking lunatic. Seriously, when Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) is giving you sound advice about how to live your life, you know you’re in trouble.

* Line of the Week:

Johnny to Abigail regarding the “cinematic” sex scene penned by his brother: “The way that Will described my dad’s naked body…it’s almost like he had a thing for his stepfather.”
