When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.
Days of our Lives: A Critic’s Week In Review
As of late, Days of our Lives has been all about the build-up; the follow-through sorely lacking. MarDevil (Deidre Hall) wrecked shop for months, and all it took was two telekinetic shoves from a souped-up John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and she was down for the count.
Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) was in that magically induced coma for only about a minute – and that telltale bracelet that seemed poised to play a big role in the storyline proved to be a major red herring.
Jan Spears’s (Heather Lindell) reign of terror lasted for a mere five episodes, and then she was spirited back to jail. It seems a dead cert that Brady Black’s (Eric Martsolf) plight will soon be a thing of the past. And Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) is off the canvas, and with him goes any hope of actually seeing his redemption arch play out.
What’s with all the rushing around and storyline resets? Where’s the suspense? The exciting climaxes? The much-anticipated fallout? And where are all the other characters?
Somewhere out there in the Days of our Lives universe, there’s a seriously teed-off Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun), and a panicked Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien). And I presume that Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) and Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) are still scheming to get the top spot at Titan, if not DiMera Enterprises. Maybe my Christmas wish should have been a more balanced canvas and better-plotted stories.
Further DAYS Musings
* Am I the only one who thinks that Jason the kidnapper (Noel Gugliemi) – and yes, I do have it on good authority that is his last name – is a hoot?
* Isn’t it about time that someone pointed out to Lani Grant (Sal Stowers) how OTT and hypocritical she’s acting when it comes to Paulina Price (Jackée Harry)?
* Last week, I listed all the reasons why Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) should cut her losses where EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) AND Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) were concerned, and now I can add “kidnapping” to Lucas’s con pile, and “wiping that smug, self-satisfied look on EJ’s face” to the pros.
