After Lani Price Grant and Eli Grant left town and the Salem Police Department, it was only a matter of time before another cop showed up on the Days of our Lives scene. Enter Elia Cantu, who begins playing policewoman Jada Hunter on July 19.
Elia Cantu Joins Days of our Lives
Cantu has a diverse background that includes an array of different interests and success stories. Plus, her acting resume includes some impressive credits. She’s had guest spots on This Is Us, black-ish, and 9-1-1, and appeared in the TV movie, A Cinderella Christmas. Want to learn more about the actress? Here are seven things to know about Elia Cantu:
1. Don’t even think about playing mind games with Cantu because you won’t stand a chance. The college graduate has a B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach.
2. She’s also an established makeup artist, who specializes in actor headshots, TV/film, commercial/print, private events, and special occasions. Cantu has an Instagram page devoted to her craft (@makeupby_elia), as well as the website https://www.makeupbyelia.com/ where you can view her work and book her services.
3. Cantu knows how to make you laugh. In fact, she’s got some major skills. She studied improvisational and sketch comedy at The Groundlings Theatre & School. Her Instagram feed is filled with fabulous impersonations of everyone from Wendy Williams to Prince to Lucy Ricardo, and everyone in between.

5. She’s got some musical talent, too. Cantu plays the trumpet and used to be in a jazz and marching band.
6. Elia Cantu is absolutely mad for her dog, Danny. On the pooch’s 10th birthday, she took him to the beach and devoted an Instagram post to him: “Grateful for the decade of unconditional love & support. Cheers to many more wonderful years ahead! #TheDecadeofDanny.”
