Chris Bisson is a British television actor who is best known for playing Jai Sharma on Emmerdale for over a decade.
Along with his work on the British soap, Bisson has also appeared on shows such as Prime Suspect, Holby City, and Shameless. From where he was born and raised to appearing on reality TV, here are five fast facts about the actor.
He was born on July 21 in Wythenshawe, Manchester, England, where he was also raised. His parents came over to England from the West Indies before he was born. He is the stepson of Granada television executive and host, Eamonn O’Neal.
First Role
Bisson got his first job as an actor when he was just a teenager on the British children’s series Children’s Ward. Bisson played the character of J.J. and was on the program for 13 episodes.
Soap Career
He played the character of Vikram Desai in Coronation Street for a couple of years in the 2000s, but his long-standing role has been as Jai Sharma in Emmerdale. Bisson was cast as Jai in 2009 and temporarily left the show in January 2013, but he returned to the show just months later.
Along with being an actor, Bisson has also appeared on a number of reality TV shows. He was a contestant on the second season of I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, finishing in eighth place. He and his family were also on an episode of All-Star Family Fortunes in October 2011.

He has been with his partner, Rowena Finn, since 2006. Together they have two children, a son named Harry who was born on January 9, 2013, and a daughter named Ella Rose who was born on December 8, 2015.
