Anyone wondering if John “Finn” Finnegan and Steffy Forrester were going to shift to the backburner after tying the knot on The Bold and the Beautiful, as newlywed couples tend to do on soaps, can go ahead and wonder no more. The show has thrown the bride and groom into the fire by revealing that Finn’s birth mother is Sheila Carter!

The Bold and the Beautiful Made the Right Move

The B&B writers have given the show a potent shot in the arm by reintroducing Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) onto the canvas. She’s not just back to try and worm her way into the lives of the Forresters. Now, courtesy of Finn (Tanner Novlan), she is a part of the Forrester family – she’s Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) mother-in-law! This time, Sheila has a hold on the Forresters that she’s never had in the past.

Finn was the first person to see Sheila Carter and as he didn’t know her history with his new in-laws, the surprised son kept an open mind, assuming that his birth mother was a good and decent person. Sheila told her son that she did what was best for him by giving him up. Finn believed her because he wants to see the best in the woman who gave him life. Sheila wasn’t even back for one full episode before she started manipulating those around her. She managed to meet Finn alone, creating an instant bond with him.

The B&B Wedding Crasher

Of course, he insisted on introducing Sheila to everyone and the re-introduction had a maximum impact! Finn innocently returned to the main house for the wedding festivities and said he had met someone. Then, Sheila entered and the Forresters, understandably, had stunned reactions!

Sure, she’s been in town at Il Giardino working as a waitress – or had been. Even if the Forresters ran into her occasionally, there was no way they were expecting her to show up on their doorstep at Finn and Steffy’s wedding. Sheila’s almost always two steps ahead of her opponents and this latest return is no exception. She managed to get to Finn alone and ingratiated herself into his heart before anyone could alter his initial opinion of her.

A naïve Finn insisted that his newfound mother come with him to the reception. Sheila implored him not to say anything to anyone – especially to Steffy. The more she insisted she didn’t want to go, the more Finn insisted that she do. The festive nature of the wedding reception came to a standstill when Finn re-entered and brought Sheila with him. Suspenseful music cues were played. Finn’s wife and in-laws had bewildered looks on their faces. The episode’s director captured close-up reaction shots. Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) dropped her glass of champagne and it shattered on the floor.

Oh, Sheila!

Everyone is right to be alarmed. There’s so much potential for conflict in light of Sheila’s return. And danger! Sheila began her reign of terror on The Young and the Restless by stealing nemesis Lauren Fenmore’s (Tracey Bregman) son Scotty. Veteran Bold and the Beautiful viewers recall that the first time Sheila came to Los Angeles, she quickly scooped up a runway Rick Forrester (then called “Little Eric” and played by Jeremy Snider), who’d gone missing in the hallways at Forrester Creations.

Sheila’s not only re-appeared but she’s shown up at the Forrester mansion – the place where she shot Brooke and Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo). As a result, Taylor was separated from her family for years as Prince Omar (Kabir Bedi) whisked her away from the hospital, leaving her family to believe that she was dead.

Sheila’s return stands to affect everyone – not just Finn and Steffy. Could Jack’s (Ted King) cryptic voiceover indicate he knows more about Sheila than anyone suspects? Eric Forrester (John McCook), now single, could find himself falling prey to Sheila’s antics. Could Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer) and Sheila re-ignite their feud, which turned physical on more than one occasion?

Parents on The Bold and the Beautiful might do well to keep an extra careful eye on Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri), Kelly (Avalon and Collette Gray), Beth, and, perhaps most importantly, little Hayes! Sheila has a habit of getting attached to little children that aren’t hers!
