As Steffy Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood is finding out the hard way that the first year of marriage is the hardest. After dropping out of a business trip, she returned home to find her worst nightmare – Sheila Carter in her home holding her son Hayes! Steffy reacted predictably and with passion. For her performance as a mother determined to keep her child safe, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week for B&B honors on Steffy’s portrayer, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood.

Steffy couldn’t believe her eyes when she walked into her residence and discovered that Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) had ingratiated her way into her home and was holding her newborn son. Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful knew they were in for a dynamite episode with this setup! Take-charge as always, Steffy quickly took her crying son out of his biological grandmother’s arms ignoring Sheila’s remark that it was only Steffy’s presence that caused Hayes to cry.

Wood didn’t limit Steffy’s wrath to simply Sheila. She took both her new husband Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) and her father-in-law Jack (Ted King) to task. “You had one job – to keep our child safe,” Steffy blasted her hubby, reminding him of all the pain Sheila’s caused her family. “How could you put him in her arms?” While Steffy’s query may have sounded rhetorical, she truly did want an answer.

“The woman who tried to kill my mom is in my house holding our son,” an incredulous Steffy, played by Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, continued. Initially, Wood directed her anger more towards Finn and Jack for their naivety. “Promises don’t mean a damn thing to her! You can’t believe anything she says,” Steffy strongly stated. Each time Sheila tried to play the innocent victim, saying she just wanted to see her grandson, hold him, and then, she’d go away forever, Steffy doubled down, maintaining that Sheila cannot be trusted. Ever.

The Slap Heard Around Los Angeles

As a coy Sheila continued to proclaim her innocence, Steffy shot Finn a look in that way only romantic partners can that read, “Really?” Sheila Carter played the “we’re both mothers” card with Steffy but the new mom refused to back down. The men in her life may have succumbed to Sheila but Steffy? There’s not a chance she’s going to forgive her mother-in-law.

Sheila pointed out that the late Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) wasn’t nice to her in an attempt to garner sympathy from both Steffy and viewers of The Bold and the Beautiful, however that tactic didn’t work very well. Steffy challenged Sheila, using her own words against her saying that if she truly did love Finn she’d walk away. Sheila claimed that she had feelings and Steffy, maintaining eye contact with her nemesis, snarked back, “Homicidal ones don’t count.”

While some families take a bit of time to merge properly after two people get married, we can’t see Steffy ever accepting Sheila – nor should she. In order to drive her point home, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) approached her mother-in-law and gave her a fierce backhanded slap! Only then did Sheila finally exit her son and daughter-in-law’s home.

We already know that Sheila is going to be her usual manipulative self now that she’s back on The Bold and the Beautiful. However, she may find in Steffy a formidable foe the likes of which she hasn’t seen since she battled Steffy’s namesake. Kudos to B&B’s Jacqueline MacInnes Wood for keeping her character strong and resilient in the face of such adversity.
