Soaps have always been about strong mothers meddling in the lives of their children, citing that their experience and wisdom makes them an expert on what’s right for their offspring. Soap Hub is bestowing Performer of the Week honors for The Bold and the Beautiful to Cassandra Creech, AKA Paris’s controlling mom Dr. Grace Buckingham.
Cassandra Creech – Performer of the Week
“I will not be ignored,” Grace declared outside of Carter Walton’s (Lawrence Saint-Victor) apartment, determined to make sure her daughter ends up with Zende Forrester Dominguez (Delon de Metz) and not the handsome, athletic, kind, COO of Forrester Creations, Carter. Faster than you could say “Alex Forrest,” Grace was inside Carter’s apartment assessing the situation and trying to control it, too! What does Grace have against Carter? We’re not really sure but she does not see him in her daughter’s future!
Grace came upon Paris and Carter after they’d made love and she was livid that a man whom she accused of having no morals would make a move on her daughter. Not only does Grace feel that Zende is the man for Paris but she feels that Carter is a player given his track record with both Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes), who is Grace’s other daughter, and Quinn Fuller Forrester (Rena Sofer).
“Whatever this is between you and Carter — it is OVER, right here and right now! Do I make myself clear?” Grace shot at her daughter. Cassandra Creech strengthened her character’s resolve by pointing out that Carter had already hurt the Forresters once courtesy of his affair with Quinn. Paris may be Grace’s youngest child but she’s a grown woman, running the Forrester Foundation. However, Grace treats her as if she were a teenager who snuck out for a romp with her high school beau. It’s almost as if Grace has a secret reason as to why Carter and Paris shouldn’t be together. (Does she?)
Grace had to step up her game when Paris not only refused to leave Carter’s apartment with her mother but also when she informed her that she and Carter aren’t having just any fling. Paris told a stunned Grace that not only does she love Carter but he loves her, too. We can’t wait to see what Grace does next as she attempts to orchestrate her daughter’s love life!
Honorable Mention: Balancing Grace’s (Cassandra Creech) passion was the resigned resolve that Katherine Kelly Lang’s Brooke Logan Forrester showed when she revealed to Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) that she was letting him go given the lapse she had on New Year’s Eve with Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) and also, her lying about it. Two dynamic performances from two of B&B’s leading ladies made recent episodes must-see TV! Brava!
