Beyond the Gates‘ Ted and Shanice are currently on different pages in their relationship. At least that’s the story Ted is telling. We haven’t heard Shanice’s perspective in a minute. Weekly Recap: April 13-17, 2026
Monday, April 13 – Episode #268
Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) dealt with the hack. As of now, she realized her laptop was used to break into hospital records. She had to face Lia’s questions. Nicole told the chief of staff that she couldn’t tell what was hacked, although she didn’t think it was patient info. Lia (Cecelia Specht) looked worried.
At Orphey Gene’s, Ashley (Jen Jacob) walked in to make an order and spotted Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) and Marcel (Darryl W. Handy). During her brief chat with them, she mentioned her boss. Marcel guessed it was Lia. She was an old friend of his. Later at the hospital, Nicole asked Ashley if she had witnessed anyone around her office. Ashley said that both Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) and Smitty (Mike Manning) were looking for her.
Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) realized she had been duped. Well, Joey (Jon Lindstrom) helped her realize that her kids arranged for her to be busy with Donnell (Alex Cheeks) while Deanna (Angela Fairley) grilled Joey. Vanessa surprised her kids at Uptown, where Vanessa fought with Deanna.
Lia met up with Marcel at Orphey Gene’s. Lia and Leslie clashed. After Leslie left, Lia and Marcel talked about the hack at the hospital. Lia hoped her old friend could look into it for her. Off the books, of course.
Tuesday, April 14 – Episode #269
Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) were at the house. They were nervous because they knew they were about to get a major medical update from Anita’s oncologist. Dani (Karla Mosley) conveniently stopped by. Anita sat her down to chat about how Dani would need to step up should they get unfavorable results from the doctor.
Nicole went over to Smitty’s place to talk to him and to suss out the whole hack situation. She didn’t mention the hack, however. But she said that she had heard that he stopped by the day before to talk about the cotillion. Smitty spent their time discussing how much time the cotillion business was taking up.
After she finished up with Smitty, Nicole headed to her parents’ house. Smitty met up with Jacob (Jibre Hordges), who wasn’t happy with Smitty. Jacob told Smitty that he went rogue, and now they had to deal with the fallout.
At the hospital, Anita and Vernon got the good news. That her tumor was shrinking as they had hoped. And Anita should only have a couple more chemo sessions. Depending on another assessment, she could then have a lumpectomy or mastectomy. Everybody was relieved.
In other news, Hayley (Marquita Goings) tried to sell Bill (Timon Kyle Durett) on buying the penthouse for Lynette (Dominique Madison). She told him he could look at it as an investment. And Lynette would just stay there until she got back on her feet. Then they could rent it out or whatever. Bill said hard pass. Also, Hayley resumed her plan to kill Bill. She laced his latte.
Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) tried to snow Lynette. At first, she didn’t buy it, but ultimately, she decided to team up with him. They celebrated by going back to her hotel room to have sex. Later, when she wasn’t looking, Randy stole the phone out of her purse.
Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) and Naomi met up. Chelsea wanted to know how her sister was doing without Jacob. Naomi said she was okay. She was happy there were some distractions in her life. The case she’s working on with their father to help Madison (Kenjah). She also said she’s doing extra pilates sessions and catching up on reading. Chelsea made Naomi promise to call if she got lonely.
Wednesday, April 15 – Episode #270
Naomi and Chelsea continued their sisterly bonding session, then went their separate ways. Naomi headed to Bill’s law firm to discuss Madison’s lawsuit. Before she got there, Hayley and Bill had a discussion. She pretended that she was no longer oblivious to Lynette’s many red flags. Because of this “breakthrough”, Bill invited Hayley to go to lunch at the country club with him and Naomi.
At the club, Leslie and Eva (Ambyr Michelle) argued about Izaiah’s mom, Darlene (Monique Mosee). They also overheard Dani’s call with Naomi. She shared the good news about Anita’s results. When Bill took the phone, he affectionately called his ex-wife “baby” right in front of Hayley. It was a cringe moment that Bill didn’t even realize he did.
Ted (Keith D. Robinson) and Andre (Sean Freeman) talked about their respective relationships, but mainly, Nicole and Shanice (Ernestine Johnson). Ted said he wasn’t ready to have anything serious with Shanice. Andre couldn’t relate. He knew that Dani still had a connection with Bill, but he said that even 90% of Dani was good with him. Ted and Andre also headed to Dani and Andre’s place, where Andre comforted his wife. And Ted gave Nicole flowers, which was a tradition on Kat’s birthday, their miracle baby.
Yes, it was Kat’s birthday. At first, Kat (Colby Nixon) thought everybody had forgotten about it, including Tomas (Alex Alegria). But in reality, he threw a surprise party for her at Uptown. Tomas and the Duprees practically took over the place. Martin (Brandon Claybon), Dani, Nicole, Ted, and Andre ended up at Uptown. Chelsea was there, too. There was a Pont Neuf cake, Kat’s favorite, and everybody was in good spirits for her birthday, but also because of Anita’s positive medical news.
Eva showed up, not knowing that the family would be there celebrating Kat. There were some tense moments. And Eva mentioned the good news about Anita, which Kat hadn’t heard yet. Ultimately, Kat invited her half-sister to join the festivities. And finally, back at the club, Leslie and Hayley talked. Leslie reminded Hayley that she had tried to get them to team up before. She needled her about Bill calling Dani “Baby.” Leslie wondered who Hayley would call when Dani inevitably wanted Bill back.
Thursday, April 16 – Episode #271
Hayley and Bill had breakfast at the club. She pretended to be angsty over the Lynette business. But she ultimately told Bill she would handle the woman, then headed over to Randy at Uptown. Randy told her that Lynette was no longer in the picture. But he didn’t give his cousin any of the particulars. This was a big win for Hayley. She no longer had to worry about Lynette and her viper tactics. Randy handed her Lynette’s phone, however.
Jacob got taught a lesson he had hoped not to learn. Ren (Donny Carrigton) roughed him up for not adhering to orders. It happened after Ren got a call from Lia, who told him that “Rashad” (Jacob’s undercover alter ego) kept talking about changing the drop-off meeting point. She didn’t appreciate him going off-book.
Martin encouraged Nicole to repair her fractured friendship with Vanessa. And then later at the country club, Martin was there to meet Andre. But before Andre could get there, he had a tense conversation with Bill, who didn’t think Martin should run for the Senate. Bill felt there was too much heat surrounding the Dupree family. Elsewhere, Joey’s chat with Randy was equally tense. He told his employee to make sure his drama didn’t land anywhere near his door, or Lynette won’t be the only one gone without a trace.
Despite being this close to getting their purse line in some sort of Tokyo Fashion event, Chelsea and Kat worried their latest business success could be derailed by Madison’s lawsuit. Meanwhile, Joey encouraged Vanessa to repair her relationship with Nicole. Then, soon after, the two ran into each other. Vanessa and Nicole tried to talk, but they found themselves at an impasse.
Finally, Naomi told Dani about Bill’s “baby” slip of the tongue. Even though Dani was on the phone when he said, she didn’t remember. Andre overheard the conversation, and when he saw Bill sitting down with Martin, he told Bill, aka ‘Old School’ Hamilton, that only he got to call Dani “baby.”
Friday, April 17 – Episode #272
Nicole and Vanessa talked about their friendship, which was in disrepair. Vanessa wanted to know if they could even save their friendship. We even saw a flashback of when the two first connected. In the present, Nicole and Vanessa realized they didn’t want to lose each other. They decided to remain BFFs. But they won’t ever go on another double date.
At the country club, Bill made himself comfortable at the table that was always reserved for the Dupree family. Dani joined him, and during their conversation, she questioned her ex-husband about his calling her “Baby.” She wondered what Hayley thought of BabyGate. And Bill let her know that Andre brought it up with him at the club. She knew that Andre wasn’t the jealous type, so she didn’t believe it at first.
Also, Dani liked the idea of Bill and Naomi working together so much that she decided to ask Chelsea to team up in a synergistic way. It would involve her sporting one of the Chelsea Kat purses in her upcoming Tatum Stewart photo shoot. Bill and Pamela (Cady McClain) didn’t think it was a good idea. And Bill didn’t. think Chelsea would go for it either.
Jacob texted Naomi and asked her to meet up at their secret hotel room. Naomi was at a loss for words when she saw the condition that Jacob was in. She gave him some much-needed TLC, and they spent time together. However, he couldn’t tell her exactly what went wrong on his undercover operation. But Naomi was afraid she might lose Jacob.
Madison was hella frustrated with the whole lawsuit, and she took some of that frustration out on Chelsea. While Chelsea didn’t appreciate Madison lashing out, she understood. And she apologized to her fiancée for not really understanding Madison’s whole relationship with her mother.
Eva walked into Orphey Gene’s and immediately didn’t like what she saw. Kat was chatting with Eva’s boyfriend, Izaiah (Lami). They were simply catching up, but Eva joined them and sort of acted. territorial with her man. Not too long after a tense exchange, Kat left, and later she met up with Chelsea and told her the Izaiah/Eva story.
Anita was in much better spirits, even though she and Vernon were going to the hospital for another chemo treatment. This was her second-to-last treatment. At the hospital, Vernon asked Madison if he could make an appointment with her. He’s worried about his recent memory slip-ups. And he wanted to get ahead of it to see if there was anything to be worried about.
