Leslie and Vanessa’s bonding has to be one of next week’s most interesting developments. With Vanessa angling to become more involved in Joey’s world, her motivations and values have evolved. Vanessa’s slide into the shady side of the DMV has been happening more and more.
She still has her real estate agency, but Joey’s also using that company for money laundering. She has successfully taken on the role of boss at Joey’s escort service, Heart Attach. It’s an app that some of Fairmont Crest’s women may use, but they would never broadcast it.
Vanessa wants an even bigger role in Joey’s empire. And in the process, she’s alienating her friends and her family, especially Deanna (Angela Fairley). Unlike Nicole, Leslie basks in the darkness, even as she strives to be accepted at the club and in society. That won’t happen anytime soon because her reputation precedes her.
So maybe an alliance or potential friendship with Leslie is what Vanessa feels she needs because she will feel less judged. And from Leslie’s perspective, a friendship with Vanessa could be seen as a little bit of legitimacy.
