Biography

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Sharon Case knew she wanted to be a performer from a very early age. Perhaps a move at age three to California and the land of all things Hollywood did that for her.

Ballet and jazz made up a big part of her childhood, but she soon decided acting was the way to go, and like many performers, she took the modeling route to get there. She freely admits she knew modeling would be a fantastic way to break into the hard-knock world of acting.

Modeling soon led to theater and her big soap break on General Hospital playing Dawn Winthrop, Monica Quartermaine’s long-lost daughter. While the role of Dawn didn’t last long, she caught the eye of the soap world and eventually made her way to CBS and As the World Turns.

From 1992 to 1993, Case played Debbie Simon on the now-defunct soap, but a move from New York back to Los Angeles brought her daytime fame. In 1994, Case landed the role of Sharon Newman on The Young and the Restless, where she’s been ever since, but that doesn’t mean soaps are all she’s ever done.

Case is quite the prolific performer and has appeared in various TV movies and independent films, including Breast Men, Carpool Guy, and Wentworth. You’ve even see her play her own self on the hit cooking show, Hell’s Kitchen.

The actress also launched her own jewelry line in 2010 called Pomp, selling what have been called chic and hip pieces on QVC.

However, it’s Sharon and all her men and neuroses that have given Case the most recognition and made her one of the longest-running actresses in Y&R history. She even won a Daytime Emmy for the role in 1999 for Outstanding Performing Actress in a Drama Series and was nominated four other times.

While Case has normally kept her private life just that–private–she was married briefly to Sandy Corzine from 2007-2009.
