Born Patrika Davidson in Jacksonville, Florida. She grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. Patrika knew she loved acting early on and attended Georgia Southern College, graduating in 1970, and later extending her studies at the Theatre Atlanta School of Drama.

She took a regular job as a credit manager, doing theater on the side, before taking the plunge to a full-time professional acting career in 1984.

Firmly grounded in Los Angeles, Darbo began adding multiple credits to her resume such as The Optimist, Riptide, Different Strokes, Misfits of Science, General Hospital, St. Elsewhere, The Night Before, Punky Brewster, It Takes Two, Just the Ten of Us, Troop Beverly Hills, Mama’s Family, Nashville Beat and Growing Pains. Patrika was still enjoying stage work along the way.

In 1990, Darbo landed one of the roles that she was most proud of in the film Daddy’s Dyin’ …Who’s Got the Will?, a black comedy about bickering siblings reunited while their father lies on his deathbed.

Patrika’s co-stars included Beau Bridges, Keith Carradine, Beverly D’Angelo, Tess Harper, and Judge Reinhold, and the film was directed by Jack Fisk.

Patrika continued snagging roles in film and television at a steady pace such as Spaced Invaders, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Ghost Dad, Saved by the Bell, Roseanne, The Willies, Santa Barbara, Dutch, Step by Step, Leaving Normal, The Vagrant, In the Line of Fire, The Boys, Seinfeld, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Married with Children, Evening Shade, Secret Sins of the Father, Corrina Corrina, before scoring the lead in Roseanne and Tom: Behind the Scenes.

The second half of the 90’s kept Darbo very busy with such productions as The George Carlin Show, Grace Under Fire, Babe, The Client, Sisters, Fast Money, House Arrest, Speed 2: Cruise Control, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, L.A. Doctors and Durango Kids. In 1999, daytime came calling again, but this time, with a juicy role as Nancy Wesley on Days of Our Lives, making Patrika a staple in homes across the America, earning her an Emmy nomination and winning her a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Female Newcomer.

Her role on Days still allowed her time for other work and she was very, very busy, adding to her resume roles on Gilmore Girls, Madhouse, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Carpool Guy, Hatchet, Moving McAllister, Unfabulous, Charlie Wilson’s War, Dexter, The Search for Santa Paws, Rango, The Middle, Life at the Resort, Desperate Housewives, Miss Behave, Devious Maids, Bloomers, Acting Dead (earning her an Emmy), Mystery Girls, The Big Bang Theory, Ladies of the Lake, and she also balanced another recurring role on The Bay during this time.

In 2017, in a brilliant move by Bradley Bell, The Bold and the Beautiful extended the Sally Spectra clan and added Patrika as Sally’s sister Shirley. Darbo is an international fan favorite and still continues to fuel her passion, adding more roles to her loaded resume and sprinkling in theater as well.

When the hardest working actress in daytime isn’t working, Patrika resides in Los Angeles, California, with her husband Rolf. The Darbos enjoy theater and supporting rescue animals
