While Nancy Wesley has very little reason to be happy since getting dumped by the love of her life on Days of our Lives, the actress who portrays her — also an alum of The Bold and Beautiful — Patrika Darbo, has a great reason to celebrate today!
Happy Birthday, Patrika Darbo!
She was born on April 6, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, which means that this talented actress is turning 74 years old today! Darbo studied acting at both Georgia Southern University and the Atlanta School of Drama — and worked as a credit manager in order to pay the bills. Not long after, the popular star landed her first professional job when she appeared in the 1983 television series The Optimist.
Subsequent work included guest appearances on television series such as Bay City Blues, Riptide, Diff’rent Strokes, St. Elsewhere, Punky Brewster, and Mama’s Family as well as the feature films The Night Before, The Burbs, Troop Beverly Hills, and Spaced Invaders.
A bit part on ABC’s General Hospital allowed Darbo to sample the frantic pace of daytime television and she returned to the soap opera genre in 1998 when she joined the cast of Days of our Lives to portray Nancy Wesley.
She remained there until 2005 — earning a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the process — and she reprised the part in both 2013 and 2016 — and returned to Salem recently for a big story as Nancy faces heartbreak at her husband’s cheating hands.
Between February 2017 and March 2018, Darbo starred as Shirley Spectra on The Bold and the Beautiful and first brought Shirley to The Young and the Restless this time last year in a video call to her niece, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).
Her other acting credits include a recurring role on Step by Step as well as guest appearances on Seinfeld and Dexter. In 1994, she played Roseanne Bar in the made-for-TV biopic Roseanne and Tom: Behind the Scenes.
