Matthew Atkinson — A Biography
Born in Marietta, Georgia, Matthew Atkinson moved around several times before the family settled in Kennesaw, GA. He decided early on to pursue acting, moving to Atlanta after graduating from high school, and then moving on to Los Angeles to further his goal of becoming a working actor.
Atkinson quickly made his debut on the CW drama One Tree Hill, followed by a role on Drop Dead Diva, before landing joining the cast of the Academy Award-winning drama The Blind Side. Additional credits include CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Fletcher Drive, Jane by Design, Parenthood, The Middle, and Young & Hungry.
In 2014, the rising star joined the cast of The Young and the Restless as Austin Travers, a cameraman who ends up marrying Summer Newman. In a classic whodunit storyline, his character was killed off in 2015. Atkinson continued adding more TV credits such as Characters, Powerless, NCIS: Los Angeles and Everyone Is Doing Great. Notable film roles include Inspired to Kill, Sisters of the Groom, Eruption: LA, and Psycho Party Planner.
In 2019, he returned to CBS, this time on The Bold and the Beautiful as Thomas Forrester, the son of Ridge Forrester and Taylor Hayes, a troubled man trying to turn over a new leaf.
Recently, Atkinson took advantage of the show’s location shoot in Rome, Italy, and proposed to his long-time girlfriend, Brytnee Ratledge.
