Kate Linder — A Biography
Born Catherine Helene Wolveck in Pasadena, California, Kate wanted to be an actress for as long as she could remember. She is a self-proclaimed dreamer and a realist. She studied her craft and kept a “day” job flying the friendly skies of Transamerican Airlines. She settled in Los Angeles with the second love of her life, Dr. Ronald Linder.
A ton of stage work kept her busy, but she kept pounding the pavement and auditioning, hoping for that one role that could change the tide. Finally, Linder landed an audition for a day role with one line on the daytime serial, The Young and the Restless.
After uttering the line, “Dinner is served,” Kate received another callback, and another, and another. For 35 years, she has stayed a key character on America’s #1 soap opera, Esther Valentine, and found her second home away from home at the Chancellor Mansion in the fictional town of Genoa City.
Primetime credits include ACME Saturday Night, The Tiffany & Erin Show, The Interview, Aunt Cissy, The Salon, Donna on the Go, and Infinite Power Players with Dr. Cie. Linder’s film credits include such as The Divorce Ceremony, A Couple of White Chicks at the Hairdresser, The Gold & the Beautiful, Lights Out, Hysteria, Sebastian, Erased, Miracle at Gate 213, Miss Meadows, Mother’s Day, Better Off Single, The Charnel House, Voice From the Stone, Dead Love, Loners, Echo Boomers, and A Little White Lie.
In addition to her work on television and film, Kate keeps busy with stage productions, charity, and fan appearances. Linder has tirelessly raised money for worthy causes like the ALS Association, a disease close to her family after a family member was diagnosed, feeding the homeless, Habitat For Humanity, Cancer, and much more.
In her “spare” time she has entertained the troops through the USO and became the first daytime actress to compete in the annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Celebrity Race. She didn’t win, but she finished ahead of the previous winners and without a single scratch!
Linder’s soul mate, Ron, recently passed away. She resides in Los Angeles, staying business with her second family at Y&R, meeting fans, and continuing to help those in need.
