Bryton James — A Biography
Bryton James was born Bryton Eric McClure in Lakewood, California. He has been acting since age two, first appearing in commercials and magazine ads, including one with Michael Jackson. At age 4, he joined the cast of Family Matters as Richie Crawford.
While working on Family Matters, Bryton branched out into some voice-over work on Disney’s Animated Storybook: The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Once he wrapped up his stint as Richie, James landed roles on Smart Guy, The Kids from Room 402, and scored another voice-over gig on The Jungle Book: Rhythm n’Groove.
In 2004, Bryton won the role of Devon Hamilton on The Young and the Restless. The daytime serial offered a secure place for James to begin to explore more mature roles. In 2009, he added a role in a theatrical release to his resume with The Intruders.
Bryton stepped up the voice-over work in 2010, adding credits such as Zevo 3, Lego Hero Factory: Rise of the Rookies, Miles Across the Sea, Hero Factory, Winx Club: Beyond Believix, Star Wars: Rebels, DC Super Friends, and Young Justice.
James balanced his daytime gig with a primetime stint from 2010 – 2011 when he took on the role of Luka Martin on The Vampire Diaries. All the while working on his music on the side. His release of “Ooh, the Way You Make Me Feel” scored big overseas.
Bryton is very active in many charities, including one that he founded called RADD (Recording Artist, Actors, and Athletes Against Drunk Driving) Kids, a nationally recognized youth safety organization. James received the Michael Landon Award for his contributions to youth in entertainment.
