Y&R Star Brytni Sarpy Takes A Turn As Writer With Her Inspiring Story

The Young and the Restless’s Brytni Sarpy is adding scribe to her resume, as the actress recently wrote an article in CBS Watch magazine with some inspiring words. Sarpy went on to reveal the reason behind wanting to write the article to her followers.

Brytni Sarpy’s Motivation

In a pair of Instagram posts, Brytni Sarpy explains the motivation behind her CBS Watch magazine article. In one, she posts a beautiful, artful shot of her and ponders, “What does it mean to me to be a woman?

“Oddly, even with it being a favorite title, I realized my particular take on womanhood was cultivated in rejecting all of my yin (female) energy,” she explained. “I understand, as most of the world does, the value in being a man. I understand the obvious strength and power masculinity can exemplify.”

Brytni Sarpy goes on to explain how she spent “an inefficient amount of time” in her younger days attempting to connect with her “yang” energy to better succeed and excel in life. “My conditioning came from the value society places on brawn and masculine traits, coupled with being raised by an exceptional father who made the idea of being a man seem heroic to me,” Sarpy wrote. “I hadn’t realized that there was an entire examination of my female self that I had failed to explore.”

She teased that that story would be “coming soon” and a follow-up Instagram post explained. In that post, Sarpy tells a story about being in Baja in 2018, where she learned to seek balance in her life and the notion of relaxing instead of racing. “It was as if my soul needed a time out or simply a bench to sit on and catch my breath,” the actress wrote.

Advice came from a short talk with a surf lesson owner who told her to “release the mindset of fear” and instead lean into the “abundance and freedom of love.” Brytni Sarpy thanks all her mentors, guides, protectors, teachers, and allies who reflect and remind her of who she is and the important lessons and relationships that have helped her define her story, strength, and purpose.

“And thank you to each and every one of you who takes the time to read this piece, and get to know me a little better,” she said. “Writing is an incredibly intimate art for me… hope it speaks to someone as deeply as the depths I drew it from.”

Sarpy’s Y&R character, Elena Dawson, could certainly use these wise words and introspection because her life has been something of a mess since arriving in Genoa City. While it’s beginning to come into focus, here’s hoping she finds that same clarity.
