The Y&R spoilers recap for Friday, February 4, 2022, brought Mariah Copeland and Tessa Porter’s engagement party, complete with Tessa’s new album and an unexpected toast from Noah Newman. Plus, Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor worried about Dominic’s health while Devon Hamilton worried about the awkwardness of their unique shared custody situation.
Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) and Moses Winters (Jacob Aaron Gaines) worked feverishly to finish up the decorations for Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa’s (Caith Fairbanks) big party. Faith asked her big brother, Noah (Rory Gibson), for some artistic pointers, but he wasn’t too interested in making any changes in the decor.
Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso), Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case), and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) also helped with the setup. The brides arrived early — before the rest of the guests — and they enjoyed some time taking silly pictures.
No, Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) didn’t make it to his best friend’s engagement party. Bummer. Instead, he and Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) sent a unique and totally Kevin present, breaking the brides’ no present rule. It was worth risking their ire, though, because Mariah opened the box to an enormous shield from their favorite book series. Thankfully, Tessa agreed to hang it on their wall to protect them from enchantments, which made Mariah realize all over again why she decided to marry this woman.
Not surprisingly, both Devon (Bryton James) and Abby (Melissa Ordway) worried about the awkwardness of seeing each other. However, they both put on brave faces and went to the gathering with their significant others — Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) — in tow.
Mariah didn’t hesitate to bring up the subject of Dominic’s custody, and Abby grabbed Mariah and Devon’s hand and called her son “our baby.” However, Abby didn’t inform anybody that she felt worried about Dom’s breathing and color. Instead, she and Chance left the party early to check on their baby.
Speaking of awkwardness, Mariah also talked to Noah about his feelings for Tessa. She confessed she still felt terrible about how she and Tessa got together, and Noah told her not to. However, the siblings love each other, and Noah will be okay.
Finally, Noah expressed his feelings outright. Sharon tried to stop him, but Noah soldiered on, and it wasn’t as bad as his mother had feared. He toasted the brides, lavishing praise on Tessa and talking about what a gifted singer she is. Then he noted that he felt thrilled his sister had found somebody as excellent as Tessa to marry, wishing everybody a lifetime full of a love like theirs. Hear hear.
Noah signed the brides’ poster with a heart. Nick took pity on his son and got him out of there to watch a movie together while the brides enjoyed dancing to one of Tessa’s new songs. All’s well that ends well. Mostly.
