The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join Days of our Lives fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of December 30, 2019

Chase Coleman (ex-Garrett, One Life to Live) makes his debut as Tanner Watts on Thursday, January 2. The character is a successful recording artist, who will share storyline with Cait Fairbanks’ Tessa.

Coleman’s credits include roles on the primetime series Boardwalk Empire (as Billy Winslow), In Between Men (as Dr. Dane Sullivan) and The Originals (as Oliver).

Christmas visits have been extended for two actors and their characters. Alyvia Alyn Lind, who plays Faith Newman, and Zach Tinker, who plays Fen Baldwin, will both be around for more episodes.

Eileen Davidson wrapped up her latest visit as Ashley Abbott when her character flew back to Paris. However, Davidson is slated to be back for another visit, next month. Please note that due to continuing impeachment coverage, air dates may be subject to change.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
