Y&R Alum Jessica Collins To Star In New Apple TV Series Acapulco

As a passionate champion of justice, Jessica Collins, as attorney Avery Bailey Clark, defended those wrongly accused on The Young and the Restless while living in often-chilly Genoa City, Wisconsin. Now, the Daytime Emmy winner is headed for warmer climates as one of the stars of Acapulco, a new Apple TV series.

Jessica Collins Lands Apple TV Series

“So excited to finally share this news!!!” the actress posted on Instagram along with some beautiful photos of herself and her fellow cast members taken on location. “Our Apple Original comedy series #ACAPULCO is premiering on October 8 on @appletvplus Can’t wait for you to meet all these gorgeous superstars!”

Acapulco is a bilingual comedy series and is set to run 10-episodes. The series stars and is executive produced by Eugenio Derbez. Acapulco tells the story of “20-something Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Arrizon), whose dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco,” according to the show’s press material.

From CBS to Apple

“He soon realizes the job is far more complicated than he ever imagined and in order to succeed, he must learn to navigate a demanding clientele, a mercurial mentor, and a complicated home life, without losing his way to shortcuts or temptations. The series, which is told in both Spanish and English, takes place in 1984, with Derbez narrating and playing the present-day version of the main character, Máximo Gallardo.”

No word on who Collins’s on-screen love interest might be (if any), however, Y&R fans recall that during the actress’s time in Genoa City, Avery was torn between Dylan (Steve Burton) and Nick (Joshua Morrow).

In addition to Collins, who plays Diane, Derbez, and Arrizon, the cast of Acapulco includes Fernando Carsa, Damián Alcázar, Camila Perez, Chord Overstreet (Glee), Vanessa Bauche, Regina Reynoso, Raphael Alejandro (who reprises his role as Hugo from the movie How To Be A Latin Lover), Rafael Cebrián, Regina Orozco, and Carlos Corona. Jessica Collins won a Daytime Emmy in 2016 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Avery Bailey Clark. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
