Y&R Alum Jason Canela Teases Thrilling New Project

Y&R alum Jason Canela revealed a brand new role he’s performing on the stage in Miami. The production is at Miami’s Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre, and Canela stars as Emilio Estefan — husband of legendary musician, Gloria Estefan.

Y&R Alum Jason Canela Stars In On Your Feet!

The former Arturo Rosales actor shared an Instagram post celebrating the cast of the production of On Your Feet! They posed in front of the marquee wearing masks. In the caption, Canela wrote, “ON YOUR FEET! is the inspiring true story about heart, heritage and two people who believed in their talent—and each other—to become an international sensation: Gloria and Emilio Estefan.”

Canela portrays Emilio in the original musical, which opens soon in Estefan’s hometown of Miami, Florida. He wrote it “will celebrate its South Florida Regional Premiere at Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre.”

An Honor

“It’s truly an honor to have been selected to bring life to the role of EMILIO,” Jason Canela continued.” I’m so excited to be working alongside some of the most talented individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of sharing a stage with. Each and everyone one of you in this cast have already inspired me in ways you can’t imagine and the fact that we get to do this in my hometown brings a feeling to me that I can’t even put into words.”

The show at Actors’ Playhouse at The Miracle Theatre runs from February 9 through March 6, 2022, and tickets for the event are limited.

Viewers may remember that Canela reprised his role as Arturo when the character returned for Rey Rosales’s (Jordi Vilasuso) and Sharon Rosales’s (Sharon Case) wedding on New Year’s Eve 2020. The couple recently celebrated their first anniversary, marking a year since Arturo’s been seen in Genoa City.
