Prime time and film have the Golden Globes, and Daytime has — or at least had — The Golden Boomerangs, an awards show by Australian soap mag TV Soap which honored the best of U.S. soaps that were shown down under.
Lauralee Bell (Christine, The Young and the Restless) posted a photo on Instagram from one of the ceremonies that ran from the late 90s to the early 2000s where she presented an award with TV husband Doug Davidson (Paul). The gala awards shows were held at swanky hotels like the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills or the Bel Air Hotel.
The invitations read “black tie,” but the tone of the evening was often a bit irreverent as actors would ad-lib and cut loose with remarks throughout the non-televised evening.
Stars and producers from Y&R, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives and Passions competed for categories such as Most Popular Show, Most Popular Actor, Most Popular Actress, and many others.
