The Young and the Restless Spoilers (YR): The Newman Family Drama Implodes!

The Young and the Restless spoilers (YR) for Thursday, July 20 is filled with Victor doing the right thing. But is it for the right reasons? Is it ever? Does he know the difference?

Next In Line!
Now that Victor (Eric Braeden) has disowned Nick (Joshua Morrow), he needs a new favorite to parade in front of the non-favorites.

He’s got Scott (Daniel Hall) to needle Abby (Melissa Ordway) for temporarily turning to Jack (Peter Bergman), but while Scott upsets Nick, he doesn’t upset him enough — even if he is also dating Sharon (Sharon Case).

So Victor turns to someone he thinks will upset Nick more — Noah (Robert Adamson).

Victor butters up his grandson, comparing him to his disloyal daddy. Why? What does Victor really want?

Does it matter? The response is the same, either way. Victor will say he feels bad, his family will say that’s not enough, he’ll wander about wearing ashes and sack-cloth for a few months until a crises reminds everyone of how much they love him.

By taking responsibility for (some of) his actions, Victor is just hastening the inevitable process.

Like Father, Like Mumbler
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), on the other hand, isn’t buttering up Nick. She is telling him his actions at her recital remind her of someone she knows all too well.

Namely, his father. Nick? That’s not a compliment. And Mommy is not happy.

Freedom of the Press
Any resemblance between Victor and a despot who kills reporters who publish stories that make him look bad is purely coincidental.

Victor is a Free Speech champion! He told Hilary (Mishael Morgan) she is free to run any of the footage she shot, no matter how it makes him look. Victor is totally Mr. First Amendment.

Hey, remember that crises we mentioned that always comes up and drives Victor’s family back to his side? I wonder what might trigger it this time? And who might be the one to trigger it?
