On The Young and the Restless, Adam (Justin Hartley) was declared dead after remains found in the blown-up safe house matched his DNA.

This isn’t the first time Adam was killed off The Young and the Restless. A few years back, the character was the victim of a tragic car accident and subsequent explosion. Then, he miraculously turned up alive, albeit bearing a new face courtesy of plastic surgery. While his death seems more final this time around, there’s still the nagging possibility that it could all be a ruse, once again. Some 3,000 fans weighed in on the subject.

Alive and Well
“No way!” say 82% of Y&R fans, refusing to believe that Adam is really dead. You already fell for that story once before, and you won’t again. You think the DNA evidence could have easily been manipulated by someone — perhaps even Adam himself — to make it look like he was a goner. This way, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Connor could go on living a normal life in Genoa City beside their family and friends, while Adam embarked on an uncertain future on the run alone.

Dead End
Knowing actor Justin Hartley has left the soap to join the new primetime series This Is Us, 11% of fans have begrudgingly accepted the reality of Adam’s demise. You can’t imagine the soap recasting the role a fourth time. So you’re trying to make peace with the show moving forward without him.

In Limbo Land
The remaining 7% are up in the air regarding Adam’s fate. Sure, he could have really been killed in the explosion, but he just as easily could have escaped before the blast with someone’s help.
