The Young and the Restless had an abundance of A+ performers among its leading man contingent in 2016.
Gripping and grueling storylines brought a number of actors to the forefront. Each and every one of them delivered big time, from Justin Hartley as Adam to Kristoff St. John as Neil, to a pair of feuding and a pair of bamboozled brothers. Soap Hub polled fans about which actor was 2016’s standout performer.
Justin Hartley
Justin Hartley won by a landslide, as 88% of you were impressed by his riveting work as Adam. Whether he was battling it out with Victor, showing his tender side with Chelsea and Connor, or being tormented by Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), Hartley never failed to give every scene his all. That’s why so many of you were heartbroken when he chose to leave the soap, and his character was killed off. You still miss him desperately.
Kristoff St. John
Longtime Y&R vet Kristoff St. John scored 9% of your votes. He had a huge year culminating with Neil being exposed as the mastermind behind Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) kidnapping. The fallout provided powerful and poignant scenes for St. John as Neil had to face the wrath of his family and friends. St. John shined as a repentant Neil, eventually winning over everyone’s forgiveness – including Hilary. Then, he picked up the pieces of his sorry life and moved onward and upward.
Other Mighty Men
The final 3% of fans cast your votes among four leading men: Peter Bergman (Jack), Steve Burton (Dylan), Joshua Morrow (Nick) and Jason Thompson (Billy). While Bergman and Thompson did some of their finest work as the Phyllis/Billy affair was exposed, Burton and Morrow were at their all-time best when Sharon finally ‘fessed up about the Christian/Sully baby switch.
