Y&R star Michelle Stafford, who portrays Phyllis Summers on the show, shared some helpful advice recently. She explained a little tip on how she’s managed to keep her family positive during the past 20 months amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Y&R Star Michelle Stafford Gives Insight into Her Family
The soap star took to Instagram with a show-stopping picture of herself wearing a simple cream-colored ribbed, v-neck tank dress with her signature red hair falling in loose curls around her shoulders. In her caption, Stafford noted that her post had absolutely nothing to do with the gorgeous photo, and then she followed up with some advice on how she kept her family laughing during the past difficult months.
“It’s been a real tough time on all of us, the last year and 1/2. We all have a story. I believe it’s been particularly tough on our children,” she wrote. Stafford continued to explain how children watch adults and learn from them, so she wanted to help hers — Jameson Jones Lee Stafford and Natalia Scout Lee Stafford — stay positive.
She admitted that she’s not always provided the best example during this difficult time. However, about a month ago, Michelle Stafford came up with a fun idea for how to get her family laughing together every single day.
“Every night before we go to bed we do a family gathering on my bed and we all say something that we like about the other. Meaning my daughter will say one thing she likes about me and one thing she likes about her brother, then Jameson, then me. We keep on doing this until somebody starts laughing,” she wrote.
‘The Jewels of Life’
Some days this little ritual of laughter takes longer than others, but it sounds as if Stafford and her children found the idea that laughter is the best medicine is true. From these seemingly silly moments, the actress shared that her son said something that left her amazed.
“The other night my son said ‘I like that you have superpowers.’ Later I asked him ‘what are my superpowers?’ He said, ‘love.'” Not surprisingly, that comment from little Jameson touched her. “These are the jewels of life. Just wanted to share. I mean, it’s better than ending the night on Social Media, ya know?”
Perhaps she could share a bit of this happiness with her onscreen alter-ego sometime soon. It seems as if Phyllis might be sad for a while after breaking up with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), especially if Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) distances himself.
Several of Stafford’s Y&R co-stars, former GH co-stars, and fans responded to her Instagram post. You can see the whole thing below.
