Kyle (Michael Mealor) says he’s taking it slowly when it comes to allowing Diane (Susan Walters) back into his and his family’s lives. But is he really? Soap Hub gave readers the opportunity to play head writer, and here’s how they answered.
Moving Back Home Sans Diane Jenkins
For 65% of those who voted, Kyle’s doing the right thing by moving home to Genoa City. Sure, he and Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) enjoyed their time in Italy, but they missed their families. Of course, moving home doesn’t necessarily have to include a long-term close relationship with his recently returned-from-the-dead mother. Come back, you say, but that doesn’t give Diane an automatic “in” in your life.
Stay Away Young and the Restless Style
However, for 19% of you, Kyle would be better off staying put in Italy. Clearly, he, Summer, and Harrison (Kellen Enriquez) thrived overseas. Kyle and Summer got married and strengthened their relationship. They’re wiser and more mature now. Plus, there’s the whole Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) angle to consider. Everything is a whole lot easier if you stay in Milan…after all, Jabot has its own jet, so flying in every once in a while isn’t that difficult.

Y&R: Hi, Mom!
For the remaining 16% of you, Kyle needs to not only move back to Genoa City but also welcome Diane into his life with open arms. After all, everybody only gets one mother (mostly), and Diane is Kyle’s for better or for worse. Sure, she’s proven she has plenty of worse in her, but that’s neither here nor there.
