Fans of The Young and the Restless got whiplash when they saw Tara Locke get the bum’s rush out of Genoa City last summer. It was uncovered that Tara was cooking the books in her own company. When that, and her role in chasing Summer Newman out of town, came to light, everyone turned on her. She was arrested and is now living back in New York awaiting trial.
The Young and the Restless and Elizabeth Leiner need to bring Tara back to Genoa City stat. Her story is far from over. For starters, we’re still not over the sanctimonious self-righteous attitude that everyone had towards Tara.
Okay, she embezzled from her own company. But so did Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). She’s committed other crimes, too, and yet she’s not in jail. What about all the shenanigans and corporate intrigue that’s gone on between the Abbotts and business adversaries over the years?
Tara is Harrison’s (Kellen Enriquez) mother and the man whom he knows as his father — Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) — is dying. We don’t see much of Harrison and sure, kids are resilient, but he’s likely having nightmares now that he’s been separated from both his parents and is living in Italy with biological pop Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). How did this even happen legally? Tara still has rights as Harrison’s mom. If she’s under house arrest in the Big Apple, there’s no reason why Harrison isn’t living with her.
Speaking of Ashland, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) is bent on exposing all of Ashland’s secrets. Sure, he’s revealed some of them such as changing his name to escape an abusive dad but it’s clear to Billy that Ashland has much more to hide. Who better to help expose those secrets than Tara?
If Billy’s a journalist who wants a story, then he needs to start digging. Tara has to know more about Ashland than anybody else on The Young and the Restless, right? It doesn’t make sense that Billy’s not on a private jet to New York to talk to Tara. She must be looking to make friends right now. Billy could offer her assistance in fighting the charges against her.
Much was written on social media about Leiner and her reserved, patrician portrayal of Tara on The Young and the Restless. We found it a refreshing change given her place on the story canvas. The more she played reserved, the angrier certain detractors became. Instead of constantly wearing her emotions on her sleeve and emoting hysterics, Tara played it cool and collected. She had secrets to hide, after all. Is one of those secrets about Ashland?
