Billy, on the other hand, is doing it because…reasons? Over 3,000 fans shared their theories with us as to why Victoria suddenly needs her ex-husband’s butting in, um, checking up on, her newest love:

A definite majority, 74%, feel confident that all of Billy’s (Jason Thompson) research has less to do with journalistic integrity and more with his refusal to face the possibility that some other man may take his place in Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) heart. Oh, sure, Billy dumped Victoria because she didn’t support all his whims and self-destructive tendencies. But he expected her to keep pining after him. After all, what woman could ever get over the perfection that is Billy?
How dare she not only find another man, but a man who is more successful than Billy professionally, and more liked – at least by the Newmans – personally? Obviously, Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) is up to something devious. And when Billy finds out what it is, won’t Victoria be sorry…uhm, we mean grateful.

The Young and the Restless: Mother, May I?
Only 17% of you believe Billy’s denials that it’s not Victoria he’s worried about, but their children, Johnny and Katie. After all, Ashland is going to be around his kids. Any man would be concerned. And pull out all his resources to prove that, if the guy once did something unsavory with an old woman 40 years ago, obviously he can’t be allowed to be around children today!
