The Young and the Restless Star Joshua Morrow Honors His TV Parents

Twitter’s been asking users to answer the question, “Who plays your parents in your biopic?” Folks have had fun choosing celebrities that they’d like to see be their fictional mom and dad. For Joshua Morrow of The Young and the Restless, this game is kind of moot!

Joshua Morrow Honors Eric Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott

There are two reasons why Morrow won’t be answering the digital query. First, he’s not active on Twitter. The other reason is he already has a pair of fictional parents — Eric Braeden (Victor) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) on YR!

The actor has called Braeden and Scott “dad” and “mom” ever since 1994 when he was cast as the couple’s on-screen son, Nicholas Newman, home from an overseas boarding school.

“The term ‘legends’ gets thrown around a lot but these two are the most iconic television actors in the history of the world,” Morrow shared when he recently chatted with Soap Hub for YR’s 48th anniversary.

The star is referring to, of course, Braeden and Scott. “Their careers are unmatched. Their talent is ridiculous.”

Morrow notes that the duo’s stardom is well-earned given their immeasurable contributions to the top-rated daytime drama. “They have millions and millions of people around the world who have experienced everything with them,” he notes. “The fact that I get to be a part of their [TV] family is one of my greatest achievements.”

Morrow admits that when he was initially cast on the show, he didn’t quite grasp the magnitude of Nick Newman’s importance to the fabric of Genoa City. “I didn’t understand that at the time, but looking back I couldn’t imagine a more perfect setting for this career that I’ve carved out,” he says.

“Eric’s been an unbelievable mentor. I love for those moments on set where I make him proud,” Morrow says. “He’ll show me a sign or shoot me a slight nod [after I’ve done a scene] that means ‘that was great.'”

As for Scott, Morrow raves, “Mel is like my second mother. She’s constantly mothering me. I love it. I love making them proud. I love being a part of their lives. They’re both very special to me. I can not imagine this career I have without them being in it.” The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
