It was a happy day for The Young and the Restless’ Greg Rikaart recently, as the actor was able to get his COVID vaccination.

Greg Rikaart Gets Vaccinated

Considering he had a terrible bout of the virus a little more than a year ago, and lingering issues have cropped up ever since, this was very welcomed news.

The Daytime Emmy winner proudly displayed his vaccination card on Instagram and looks forward to better things to come.

“The long-covid issues I was having all but went away following my vaccination,” Rikaart posted on his account. “I feel like myself again for the first time since last March. Science is the sh*t.”

It was back in March 2020 when the actor first revealed that he had COVID on his social media.

“I just tested positive for coronavirus,” he wrote at the time. “I am a pretty healthy 43-year-old who doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink much, eats well and exercises regularly and this has been the hardest experience of my life. Two+ weeks ago, everyone in my house had a bit of a cough and my son came home from school with a high fever.

What do you think? Post a comment!

“Everyone recovered, but I deteriorated. I isolated from my family and have been in solo quarantine since Saturday the 14th. I had a fever for 11 days, difficulty breathing and was diagnosed with pneumonia.”

The bad feelings lasted a while and he never truly felt 100 percent it seems, based on other posts and interviews.

We’re happy to hear his COVID-related issues are gone, though not everyone might encounter his same positive outcome (of long-COVID issues going away) from the vaccine. But it’s important to stay safe and be protected. Daytime is doing a great job with getting their actors and staff vaccinated and making the working environment a safe place.

Rikaart, who has played Kevin Fisher on and off since 2003, is back at work and looking forward to things to come for his character. Now that his wife Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) has returned home after her fight with BFF Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), who had been faking that she was paralyzed, he’s going to need to be there for her as support.

If she tells him everything that is… this couple isn’t without their secrets in the past. Stay tuned! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
