While there aren’t any The Young and the Restless spoilers now that production has come to a halt, that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate about what the story will be when the show returns. Supercouple Mariah and Tessa have endured a lot. Certainly, the two women are in love. Does that mean the two could find their way to the altar when the show returns with new episodes?
The Young and the Restless Spoilers Spec: Here Come the Brides
Here are the reasons why that just might happen — and also why it might not! Couples on soaps today get married much earlier than they used to. Look at Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle). The pair hadn’t been together for that long and hadn’t gone through all that many obstacles before Kyle and Lola went to the altar in what was billed as “The Wedding of the Year!”
Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) have dealt with problems such as Tessa being on tour and Mariah’s fling with Lindsay (Kirby Bliss Blanton). Plus all the stops and starts at the beginning. Now there’s nothing standing in the way between Tessa and Mariah making it legal. November sweeps is coming. Why not go for a fall wedding?
I Do, I Don’t
There’s only one problem with couples getting married on soaps. Wedded bliss often leads to backburner blues. Look at the previously mentioned Kyle and Lola. The characters didn’t have much conflict as a married couple. Any wonder that they broke up? Mariah and Tessa need conflicts and issues to keep them thriving on the front-burner. They don’t necessarily need to make their union legal.
Marital Bliss, Marital Blues
Getting hitched though doesn’t mean that the couple can’t have conflict. Plenty of married duos on soaps have major issues. They could be conflicted over whether or not to have children. Perhaps Tessa has some unknown relatives who’d object to Mariah because she once cheated on Tessa? The possibilities are endless whether or not the two tie the knot.
Stay tuned to see what happens next! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
