The Young and the Restless recaps for August 2 – August 6, 2021, feature Phyllis Summers getting the goods on her daughter’s tormentors, hardly anyone concerned about Mariah Copeland’s wellbeing, and Ashland Locke asking Victoria Newman for her hand in marriage.
Thanks to her expert snooping, and with a small assist from Eric Forrester (John McCook), Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) learned that it was Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) who asked that Summer Newman (Hunter King) be considered for the vacant position at Marchetti.
Upon returning to Genoa City, Phyllis shared that tidbit with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman); Jack then suggested to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) that Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) used the threat of absconding with Harrison to force Summer into leaving town. During a subsequent video chat with Summer, Kyle realizes that is indeed the case.
And while Kyle blasted Tara for her deception, and for daring to play God with his life, Phyllis and Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) busied themselves with uncovering more of Tara’s schemes. The duo eventually hit pay dirt – Tara’s been defrauding her company’s investors.
Phyllis and Nick alerted Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman) to the con, then, amidst great fanfare, the trio descended on the Abbott mansion, exposed Tara’s treachery, then looked on in glee as she was arrested. Afterward, Kyle makes his way to Milan where he and Summer happily reunite.
Mariah Copeland, or, more accurately, the person holding Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) hostage, sent out yet another disconcerting text to Abby Newman Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks).
And while Tessa did her utmost to convince Sharon Rosales (Sharon Chase) that something was amiss, Abby sought out Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and complained bitterly about Chance Chancellor’s absence.
Michael Baldwin (Christian Jules Le Blanc) assured Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) that he intends to prosecute Sutton Ames (Jack Landron)…but he’s unsure of his chances at getting a conviction. While dining with Naya (Ptosha Storey) and Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose), Amanda expressed interest in suing Sutton in civil court. Naya leans ever closer towards seeing her father for the monster that he truly is.
Ashland (Richard Burgi) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) settled themselves into the former’s Manhattan penthouse – which Ashland has decided to sell…along with his Hamptons beach house. When Ashland proposes marriage, Victoria accepts.
* Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) suggested to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) that they poach Locke Communications staff, in an effort to weaken the soon-to-be-completed merger between that company and Newman Media. Victor’s reluctance to do so angers Adam.
* Victor extends a job offer to Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso); he politely declines. Sharon is pleased by the result, as she doesn’t want her husband affiliated with Victor.
* Nick warned Adam that if his continued pursuit of Sharon could damage their recently repaired relationship. Off that conversation, Adam places a call to Sharon and promises that he’ll be keeping his distance.
