The Young and the Restless recap for Thursday, July 1 kicks off the month with the senior Newmans worrying their daughter isn’t ready to play in the big leagues, while Sally Spectra continues to believe she is, Kyle Abbott doesn’t see what’s in front of his nose, and Mariah Copeland has suspicions about Stitch Rayburn.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is suspicious about Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) plan to merge the company he started with the one owned by an allegedly dying Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi). Victoria worries that Victor might try to worm into her deal.
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) agrees that it’s a possibility. But she’s also worried that Ashland is faking the whole thing to get his hands on Newman Enterprises. So, basically, neither parent has any faith in the girl they raised. Awesome support there, Mom and Dad.
Sally (Courtney Hope) is feeling on top of the world now that Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman) has named her acting president of Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) old division. She’s feeling so confident that she invites Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) to grab a drink. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) quickly swoops in to remind Jack that Sally is trash. Jack tells her to butt out – politely. And takes Sally up on her offer.
Meanwhile, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) allows Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) to manipulate him into dinner. As Tara told Summer, getting Kyle back is going to be a piece of cake. The guy won’t know what hit him. She gets Harrison’s custody agreement in the mail. It’s what Ashland promised.
Mariah (Camryn Grimes) is suspicious of Stitch (Sean Carrigan) being back in town – and inviting Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) to parties. She tries to pump him for details about what he has planned, but Stitch plays his cards close to the vest.
