The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, August 18, 2021, sees Rey Rosales barking up a strange tree in regards to Mariah Copeland, while Phyllis Summers and Jack Abbott commiserate over their mutual tragedy, and Gloria has a proposition that leaves Lauren Fenmore and Michael Baldwin dumbfounded.

The Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Now that Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) have convinced Rey (Jordi Vilasuo) that Mariah’s (Camryn Grimes) disappearance seems sinister, he’s gone full detective. Rey and Sharon discussed who might be out to hurt Mariah, which included her ex-stepfather, Ian Ward (Ray Wise), and the goons who kidnapped Tessa’s sister.

So, naturally, Rey goes to question…Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). And he accuses Sharon of being obsessed with him! Adam responds angrily to being accused of knowing where Mariah is since he’s had nothing to do with her for months. Rey points out that his defensiveness is suspicious. He’s an amazing cop! Adam texts Sharon to offer his support. Rey is an amazing husband!

Y&R Recap: Losing You

Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) once again bursts into tears thinking about Summer (Hunter King) being out of town. Jack (Peter Bergman) is the only one who still has the patience to listen.

Later, Jack comes home to find Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) telling Harrison to be a good boy for Daddy Kyle (Michael Mealor). When the man known as the Locke Ness Monster has a more mature reaction to losing his child – who is both younger and being claimed by another parent – maybe Phyllis should consider that she’s gone way overboard? Phyllis brings Jack a picture of herself and Baby Summer to bring to her daughter. She is clearly not letting this go.

Young and Restless: Job Search

Gloria (Judith Chapman) tells Lauren (Tracey Bregman) that she wants Sally’s (Courtney Hope) old job. Lauren mentions that Gloria is a bit older than their target demographic. Gloria makes noises about an age discrimination lawsuit. She clearly isn’t worried about nepotism, however.

Gloria then throws out the word diversity, and swans off, telling Lauren and Michael (Christian Le Blanc) they’ll continue the conversation later. She then goes off to annoy Sally and Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson). She wants them to explain young people to her.
