The Young and the Restless recap for October 5-9, 2020, features a number of characters learning that tantalizing rewards aren’t always worth the high stakes risk.

The Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

One should only bet what they’re willing to lose. Billy (Jason Thompson) took a major gamble when he published that expose on Adam (Mark Grossman) before it had been properly vetted by his team. He not only jeopardized the company but he also put his and Lily’s (Christel Khalil) reputations at risk.

Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) decision to provide Billy and Alyssa (Maria DiDomenico) the truth about Adam’s involvement in A.J. Montalvo’s death has resulted in her estrangement from the family she once held so dear – and it appears to have initiated her slide into further, ethically murky waters.

Elena (Brytni Sarpy) and Nate’s (Sean Dominic) decision to give in to their pent-up passions – not to mention their subsequent cover-up – will surely result in the destruction of their relationships with Devon (Bryton James) and Amanda (Mishael Morgan) respectively. And neither one relish that eventuality.

Phyllis’s (Michelle Stafford) desire to divest herself of troublesome Abby (Melissa Ordway) resulted in the placement of 75% of her eggs into one basket…a basket which Victoria promptly purchased when Ol’ Red vexed her greatly. Now Phyllis is left with only a mere pittance of the hotel she so sorely adores. Great big swing and a great big miss!

Then there’s Chance (Donny Boaz) and Abby. He took a big risk by continuing to insist that Adam wasn’t beyond redemption and could actually be saved. She took a big risk by finally confessing that she is in love with the former G-Man. But now that Chace is under investigation for his role in the “Las Vegas Incident” how much longer will this blossoming relationship last?

YR Musings

Remember that time when the late, great Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) sent Jill (Jess Walton) on a scavenger hunt for a necklace that was eventually find nestled inside a chandelier? Wouldn’t it have made more sense for THAT to have been the much sought after “Tear Drop of Love” rather than trying to shoehorn Lauren (Tracey E. Bregman) and her long-dead father into this (already ridiculous) storyline?

Phyllis: “I’m going up against Victoria. But I need somebody to help me, somebody shrewd. You know? Somebody who’s not a Newman. Doesn’t have skin in the game…And I actually have the perfect non-Newman to help me.”

Hands up anybody and everybody who thought that Phyllis would be turning to her (supposed) best friend, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) for assistance. Also, didn’t you just hoot when Amanda suggested that Phyllis ask Christine “The Bug” Williams (Lauralee Bell) to represent her?

Lily to Victor: “The story we ran on Adam…I think it was a public service…Please let your wife know that your pressure tactics don’t work any more than her guilt trip.” Damn Lily! First of all, you go girl! Secondly, do you know who you’re speaking to? Talk about taking a gamble! The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
