The Young and the Restless recap for Monday, January 4 rings in the new year with a joyfully unmarried Phyllis and Nick talking money, a newly married Sharon and Rey discussing a familiar topic, and Adam realizing that not marrying Chelsea means he can’t see her in the hospital.
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) agree that marriage doesn’t work for them, but they are very happy with where their life is now. Phyllis is also happy with the money Nick loaned her and promises to make weekly payments until they’re square again.
Nick wonders how she’s going to pull that off. Phyllis tells him not to worry, she’ll figure it out – and it won’t be by doing something stupid. But, as long as they’re talking… how about monthly payments, instead?
Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) and Sharon (Sharon Case) are finally married. And they are still talking about the same thing. Namely, Adam (Mark Grossman). Sharon heard that Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) is in the hospital, and wonders if Adam needs a shoulder to cry on. Rey points out that Adam didn’t ask. And they’re on their way to Florida, remember? Sharon finally agrees, and they take off for their sun and sand honeymoon.
Meanwhile, Mariah (Camryn Grimes) is happy to hang with little sister Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind). But little sister Faith is being pressured to sneak off to Jordan’s and do some more daytime drinking.
Most days, Genoa City Hospital is like Grand Central Station, with people coming and going whenever they feel like it. With Chelsea, however, Adam is suddenly not allowed to visit with her, since they’re not married. First, he calls her doctor to pull strings, reminding her that they were at Harvard together. And then he calls the most powerful figure of all – Victor (Eric Braeden), natch. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
