The Young and the Restless recap for August 10-14, 2020, features drama aplenty what with the confession to a long-ago cover-up, the launch of yet another Dina-related mystery, and Phyllis’ decision to play archeologist.

The Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Genoa City has never been a sleepy little town. And the first quarter of the calendar year wasn’t exactly smooth sailing for any of GC’s inhabitants. The Newman family was dealt blow after blow – including the near-fatal stabbing of Victoria (Amelia Heinle), a battle royale staged for the title of Newman Enterprises CEO, and the revelation that an 11-year-old Adam (Mark Grossman) committed murder.

Sharon (Sharon Chase) discovered a lump in her breast that turned out to be cancerous. Then her daughter nearly torpedoed her own love life by indulging in a fling with a very chatty barmaid.

Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) discovered that he was an honorary member of the Abbott family – thanks to his paternal grandmother’s marriage to patriarch John – and then he allowed himself to be manipulated into screwing up his big opportunity to make a name for himself at Jabot.

And then there were all the other assorted dramas and powerplays. Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) vs. Abby (Melisa Ordway). The (still) secret backstory of one Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). Lily (Christel Khalil) and Billy’s (Jason Thompson) struggle to collaborate on the running of a media division at Chancellor Industries. And the Abbott family’s dogged determination to make a Dina’s (Marla Adams) final days on Earth pleasant ones.

Third-Party Verification

Adam found it too difficult to simply accept Victor’s (Eric Braeden) version of events that ended with AJ Montalvo’s death. He insisted that there was no way he could have killed a man – though the jury’s still out on that. Does anybody remember Richard Hightower?

But we digress. In order to prove his innocence, Adam turned to George, the reliable farmhand that he had known since childhood. And after much prodding, George finally verified that Victor’s story was accurate. Adam killed AJ in order to protect his mother.

The revelation sent Adam into a tailspin and he reached out to the only woman in the world capable of offering him assistance. No, not Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). Not the woman he asked to be his wife.

No, Adam needs SHARON — the woman who’s currently recovering from a lumpectomy and who has absolutely no business involving herself in Adam’s affairs. But she’s gonna do it anyway. Hey, the girl’s gotta put that psych degree to some good use.

The Abbots Are On A Mission

Yet another mystery abounds for the intrepid Abbott off-spring. They’ve already uncovered their mother’s illegitimate child but now that have to figure out who or what “Bixley” is. Traci (Beth Maitland) thinks that it might be the Bicomatic camera that recorded snippets of their childhood. But what will trio discover on the reels of old home movies?

Phyllis and the T-Rex

Phyllis had a grand plan to save The Grand Phoenix. And it involved dinosaur bones. Did you know you can just buy them off the internet and have them shipped to wherever you please? Phyllis did.

And upon collection, she transferred the fossils across the street to the site of Abby’s still under construction hotel. Their eventual discovery put halt to the building’s progress, but it also served to make Abby very, very angry. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
