The Young and the Restless recap for Monday, September 17, 2021, ends the week on a revelation we all knew but didn’t think Mariah Copeland was ready to admit. Mariah finally broke down in tears and confessed that she can’t live in Abby Chancellor’s house anymore. It hurts her too much to watch Abby play Mommy to Dominic while she still thinks of him as her baby Bowie – and she wishes he were hers.

The Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Abby (Melissa Ordway) throws yet another party to celebrate herself and Dominic, this time with the Abbotts, Newmans, and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) in attendance. Mariah is a bit overwhelmed to hear how intertwined the Abbott, Newman, and Winters families have been over the years. But she is a lot overwhelmed when a broken glass throws her into Post Traumatic Stress, thinking that Stitch Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) is back and after her.

Young and the Restless: Great Escape

Mariah runs off to the only bench left in Genoa City, where she tells Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) she can’t continue living in Abby’s house anymore.

They return to give Abby the news, but probing questions lead Mariah to lose it completely and admit that she can’t do this anymore. Mariah says a tearful goodbye to the baby she gave birth to, while Abby, Devon, and Tessa look on.

Y&R Recap: Team Abby

Meanwhile, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) is lamenting to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) that while she is extremely grateful for everything Mariah did for Abby, she’s worried that this arrangement won’t work out.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) kicks it up a notch when he tells Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) the person he is truly worried about is Abby. How is his poor princess supposed to go on with her life and enjoy new motherhood if she has to constantly be worrying about Mariah’s mental health? Sheesh, what a drag.
